Colorado Rocky Mountain SWANA Chapter will be offering the opportunity
for individuals to take any one of the eight National SWANA Certification
Exams on September 23rd, 2010. The certification testing will
occur following the adjournment of the chapter’s annual
conference.
Exam applicants will need to register for the exam no later
than August 13 20, 2010. Absolutely, no walk in or late registration
will be allowed. Testing will be $125 per exam for SWANA members
and $175 per exam for non-SWANA members. Only one exam may be taken
per individual on the testing day. Exam testing will be held from
7 AM to 10 AM in the Centennial Room of the Vail Cascade Resort & Spa in Vail, Colorado. Annual Conference registration
in not required to register to take a certification exam.

If you are not able to register online, please complete the printed
form and mail it in as soon as possible. All online and printed forms, along with payment, must be received no later than the end of
the day on August 13 20, 2010. Please be sure to indicate which exam you wish to take:
- Manager of Landfill Operations (MOLO)
- Manager of Bioreactor Landfill
- Managing MSW Recycling Systems
- Managing MSW Collection Systems
- Construction & Demolition (C&D)
- Managing Transfer Station Systems
- Managing Composting Programs
- Principles of Management in MSW Management Systems
Please note the following:

No training will be offered prior to the exam testing, however
individuals may chose to purchase the training manual for their
corresponding exam and self-study. Training manuals
may be purchased directly from National SWANA. To purchase a
manual, please contact SWANA’s Training Program Manger,
Pam Wike at PWike@swana.org
- Registered exam takers should plan on bringing:
- Pencils
- Calculators (for Landfill, C&D and Transfer Station Exams
only)
- Rulers (for Landfill exams only)
Formulas, diagrams and extra workspace for calculating answers
are provided.
You may not bring the following into the testing
room:
- Your own formula sheet(s)
- Scrap paper
- Reference or training manuals or other handouts
- Continuing Education Units (CEU): CEU’s
will be offered by National SWANA upon successful completion of the
exam. Your exam results should be mailed back to you within 6 weeks.
Remember that it is your responsibility to obtain the necessary training
and CEU’s to maintain your certification status.
- Scholarship Opportunities: The Chapter has budgeted
money for training/education grants and scholarships to award to
waste/recycling industry students and professionals. If you are
in need of financial assistance to obtain training, please submit
an application
form and criteria.
- Cancellations made after August 13 20, 2010 and no shows will forfeit
their payment.
