Minutes of SWANA Rocky Mountain Chapter Monthly Board of Directors Meeting

Beginning 16 September 2004 and ending 5 pm, 21 September 2004 by Email.

Sprague/Barton moved/seconded on Thursday, 16 September 2004 at 1448 hours (and forwarded on Friday, 17 September 2004 at 1120 hours) that the Colorado Rocky Mountain SWANA Chapter will contribute $400.00 from our funds to support this "legal effort".  (The "legal effort" is the procedure required to file a brief in the DC Court of Appeals to defend the US EPA's final rule on Research, Development and Demonstration Permits for Municipal Solid Waste Landfills).

The motion was forwarded for discussion at 1120 hours, Friday 17 September 2004 with discussion to cease by 1700 hours (5 pm), Monday, 20 September 2004 and voting to cease by 1700 hours (5 pm), Tuesday, 21 September 2004.

Discussion points:

  • Butler: I don't see a lot of benefit from this proposed court action for the CO Rocky Mountain Chapter.  Most of our facilities are not into bioreactor technology because of the arid environment and have alternative liners that currently prohibit them from accepting bulk liquids. However, we should contribute to National and show our support.
  • Gillette: I agree with Len's comments and will support the motion as it will provide information to our members who might be interested in this topic.

Aye: Ahrendsen, Barton (via proxy), Briest, Butler, Claes, Doak, Gillette, and Sprague

Nay:

No Answer/Abstain: Batchelder Adams, Kriss, and McMullen,
Copy of Proxy attached to the minutes.

Motion carried by majority (8 of 11 directors).
