Minutes of SWANA Rocky Mountain Chapter Monthly Board of Directors Meeting

Beginning 15 October 2004 and ending 1 pm, 21 October 2004 by Email.

Doak/Sprague moved/seconded on Friday, 15 October 2004 to appoint Cindi Ethcheverry from Weld County Health Department to serve as a Board Member on the 2004-2005 Board of Directors for CO-SWANA.

The motion was forwarded for discussion at 1259 hours, Friday 15 October 2004 with discussion to cease by 1300 hours (1 pm), Monday, 18 October 2004 and voting to cease by 1300 hours (1 pm), Thursday, 21 October 2004.

Discussion points:

  • Batchelder Adams: Before I can decide what to think about this nomination I need to know more about Cindi Etcheverry - I don't really know her.  Is a resume available? And, Roger, do we know if Weld County will support Cindi's attendance at monthly board meetings, winter member meetings and the annual meeting? I, too, support a public sector nomination – but it would be ideal that we bring someone onto the board who has been present (if not active) in some of the chapter events in the last couple of years.  I know our field is limited - but has Cindi attended any of our meetings recently? I left her two messages during the recent board survey and could not get a response - guess that goes to show she doesn't know me either! Any chance more info could be many (sic made) available before we vote?
  • Barton: I sort of second Laurie's comments.  Remember that I had not been able to participate in events as much except Fall 2001 (hosting the chapter annual meeting - granted I did that after inviting the board with a formal proposal) and the national meeting in February 2001 in Denver (because it was instate).  The next event was Grand Junction 2002 when I accepted nomination/railroad to the board and the rest is history.  Although I don't know Cindi, if she is as professional as indicated by Roger, she may be a great addition to the board from the public sector, even though Weld County is "large" by us poor country bumpkins standards.  She has a greater opportunity to make the board meetings than Garfield County (although I think I have proved that distance is not a limiting factor when one is determined AND has the support of their bosses).  Perhaps we can find out why she has not been coming?
  • Doak: I was out of the office on Monday.  I will ask Cindi for her resume and give her an opportunity to reply questions raised by both Laurie and Deb. Note: Resume provided by Doak and Etcheverry’s response. Copy attached to original minutes.

Aye: Ahrendsen, Barton, Briest, Butler, Doak, Gillette, and Sprague

Nay:No Answer/Abstain: Batchelder Adams

Motion carried by majority (7 of 8 directors).
