List of Potential Annual Meeting Topics plus proposed general schedule

  • Compliance (air, stormwater, inspections)
  • Vegetative cover
  • Surface water runoff
  • National and state legislative issues
  • How recycling/composting/waste reduction relate to larger environmental concerns
  • How the waste industry can push the envelope in policies and program to increase diversion
  • Bioreactors
  • Tools to increase recycling
  • Carbon credits
  • Composting
  • E-Waste (requested by attendees at the training wanting a follow up session)
  • Energy efficiency and GHG reduction
  • Specifically requested: tours of waste &/or recycling facilities
    • Possible tours: WM’s Colo Springs LF
    • HHW Facility
    • Transfer Stations?

Proposed Schedule:

  1. Mar – finalize location and date
  2. Mar – send “Save the Date” notices
  3. Mar - send “Invitation to Speak”/”Call for Presentations” to mailing list plus targeted potential speakers
  4. Apr – confirm hotel and catering
  5. May – finalize speakers
  6. July – finalize proposed bylaws changes
  7. Aug – meeting notice with election and bylaws out to current membership only
  8. Aug – brochure to mailing list
  9. Aug – Membership calling by Board members with membership survey
  10. Sep – followup for last changes including sponsorships, speakers, moderators, etc.
  11. Oct – Annual meeting
