President John Briest called the Colorado Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Solid Waste Association of North America annual Member's meeting to order at 5:35 pm, Mountain Daylight Time.
A quorum of 15 people required, there were 25 present. Briest stated that the agenda items would be Member Input, New Business, and Results of Election. Stephen Gillette/Roger Doak moved/seconded to adopt the agenda. Motion was carried.
Member Input:
Lars Williams from the City and County of Denver invited more attendees for the hauling Road-E-O. They had 25 participants this year and would like to see more next year. He would like SWANA help to get more rural involvement. He also asked the chapter to do more training and recognition for collection and operations people.
Tom Strickland stated there would be an email survey sent to members to get their input back for inclusion of ideas for the next year’s training and outreach programs. The directory of members would also be emailed out to the membership as not every member came to the annual meeting this year.
New Business:
Dick Sprague spoke about the attendance of many board members and hopefully other chapter members at the Reno, Nevada WasteCon conference to be held 15-19 October 2007. Laurie Batchelder Adams would be taking over as the president for the National SWANA. He explained that the Board had made a motion to honor Laurie during the convention during the annual awards banquet. He noted that this is the first time a chapter has so honored an incoming president.
Election Results:
Leonard Butler reported that ballots were mailed out in accordance with the bylaws no more than 60 days and no less than 30 days before the annual meeting. The ballots returned showed a unanimous election for all members listed.
Adjournment:
John Briest thanked all the attendees for their attention. He also thanked the annual meeting planning committee for all their hard work. Steve Haram/Dick Sprague moved/seconded to adjourn the annual meeting. Motion was approved and meeting adjourned at 5:50 pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Deborah Barton
