As SWANA's year draws to a close, we are are looking forward to the Chapters Annual meeting. This year should be quite interesting given the location is in Estes Park and the quality presentations which are scheduled. I would like to give special thanks to Leonard Butler and Debby Barton for doing a great job in putting together and the presentations and Stephen Gillette for working on the venue. I'm looking forward to a great conference. As the new year begins, we are seeing changes coming forth as part of SWANA's new year. The biggest news is that SWANA National will be holding the 2005 Landfill Symposium in Bolder, Colorado. The Conference is scheduled for June 6 - 10. A call for papers has been sent out and they are due November 22, 2004. If you need more information on the conference you should contact Steve Ridzon at sridson@swana.org or 240.494.2241. As part of this conference, there have been discussions about possibly having a session on Arid Climate Landfills. Please stay tuned for further details. Secondly, the membership dues to be paid will be increased for both Regular and Corporate members for the 2005 fiscal year. The increase in dues will amount to $6.00 per year and is a result of both a consumer price index increase as well as the National Board trying to increase reserves, which are set aside for unforeseen events. I am looking forward to seeing all of our members at the annual conference. We are now a chapter of just under 150 individuals and bring a variety of experience and perspectives in every discussion and forum. This makes for a very strong chapter. Don't hesitate to visit our chapter's website at www.coloradoswana.org, it has been a huge success this year and keeps abreast of the Chapters activities.
