In an effort by the Colorado chapter to encourage young adults to pursue a solid waste profession, the Colorado Chapter provided a scholarship competition to some prospective solid waste CSU students this past spring. The chapter enjoyed putting the program together even though no students decided to participate in the competition. The Chapter looks forward to the possibility of expanding this event next year to additional schools. The Chapter did successfully award a scholarship for MOLO training and certification which was held during the National Landfill Symposium held in Boulder at the beginning of June. The Chapter awarded $225 to Sean McCormick of Gunnison County. Members may stay up to date on future scholarship opportunities by visiting the Chapter’s website.
