The Texas Lone Star Chapter has issued a challenge to the Colorado Rocky Mountain Chapter and all other chapters to get the highest percentage of members to attend WasteCon in Austin during the week of September 26th. The Texas chapter (which has excluded its chapter from the contest) is so focused on making this WasteCon SWANA’s best show ever, that it will pay between $500 and $2,000 to the three chapters that get the largest percentage of their members registered for this year’s show. Never one to let a Texas challenge go unmet, Colorado SWANA intends to take the Lone Star hosts on and is encouraging our local members to consider the benefits of WasteCon – whether it is the technical presentations, the training courses, the exhibit floor, the networking, or just a vacation in Austin! In order to increase Colorado’s chances of taking the top prize (we have 140 members, and would like to have 14 of us in Austin), the Chapter is offering a $500 scholarship to a member who will attend, and can show a financial need. The early bird registration for SWANA’s WasteCon ends August 19th. Registration information can be found at www.swanastore.com .
