Ok, we’ve all heard the terms hazardous wastes, unacceptable waste and solid waste used by regulators, consultants and your know-it-all brother in-law. Most of you probably have an idea what these terms mean but if you had to explain them to someone…..well that could be tricky. These terms are extremely important to understand when it comes to waste screening procedures and regulatory compliance at your facility. Colorado Rocky Mountain Chapter of SWANA as partnered with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) to provide landfill owners and operators with a half-day training course on July 14, 2006 at the CDPHE office in Denver. This training course will provide information on components of a waste screening program, sources and identification of hazardous and unacceptable wastes, regulatory requirements and facility responsibilities. SWANA national will provide one of their faculty members to present the presentation via internet and audio conference. CDPHE and Colorado SWANA will help facilitate this interactive training event so members can ask questions and get immediate feedback from both a national and state perspective. For those members who cannot attend, this training session will be broadcast online and can be accessed for a small fee on the day of the training. If you have questions regarding this training opportunity contact Roger Doak.
