2011 Colorado SWANA 2011 Truck Road-E-O A Success!

Larry Trujillo – Grand Champion

On Saturday, June 11th, a total of 44 solid waste collection drivers from all over the state completed in the 2011 Colorado SWANA Truck Road-E-O presented by Gator Rubbish & Hardline Equipment. This year's Truck Road-E-O was held in Denver at the City of Denver's Public Works Central Platte Campus. Larry Trujillo, with Alpine Waste & Recycling, earned the honor of this year's Grand Champion. Other winners in competition categories were as follows:

  • SIDE LOADER:
    • 1st Place - Larry Bettale, III, City of Denver
    • 2nd Place - David Clark, City of Thornton
    • 3rd Place - Warren Saunders, City of Thornton
  • FRONT LOADER:
    • 1st Place - Larry Trujillo, Alpine Waste & Recycling
    • 2nd Place - Larry Bettale, City of Denver
    • 3rd Place - Ascension Duran, Waste Connections
  • REAR LOADER:

The Truck Road-E-O is the premier equipment contest in Colorado for solid waste professionals. Competing this year were representatives from:

  • City of Northglenn
  • City of Thornton
  • Waste Connections.

The event brought together trash and recycling drivers from around the state. Drivers representing public and private waste collection agencies competed for top driving honors. Drivers are required to maneuver competition vehicles through a preset course and are judged on accuracy and time. First and second place competition winners will have the opportunity to go on to compete in a SWANA International Truck Road-E-O held in Dublin, Georgia in September.
